The following instructions are for students who are considering engineering-related majors, including Computer Science and Building Construction. Graduates from engineering-oriented majors are prepared for professional engineering careers, supervisory positions in construction, continued graduate study, and a wide variety of positions in computer science and physics. Coursework in this area focuses on science and mathematics.
Your fall class schedule will consist of
courses from the Curriculum for Liberal Education [CLE] which provide EVERY Virginia Tech student with a broad base of knowledge and transferable skills (these courses are required for all undergraduates), and
elective courses that provide introductory information about interest areas.
The CLE divides courses into 7 areas of study. The courses that you may request are listed below by CLE area, plus a section for electives. Please follow the instructions for each section.
Note: For various reasons, not all courses are listed on this website (for example, ENGE 1024 is not listed because, for this Fall semester, ENGE 1024 is open only to students already accepted to the College of Engineering). Only courses appropriate for first-semester University Studies students are listed here.
