The following instructions are for students who are considering a business-related major, including those within the Pamplin College of Business. Coursework will initially center around math and social sciences, and then become more heavily business-oriented second semester.
Your fall class schedule will consist of
courses from the Curriculum for Liberal Education [CLE] which provide EVERY Virginia Tech student with a broad base of knowledge and transferable skills (these courses are required for all undergraduates), and
elective courses that provide introductory information about interest areas.
The CLE divides courses into 7 areas of study. The courses that you may request are listed below by CLE area, plus a section for electives. Please follow the instructions for each section.
Note: For various reasons, not all courses are listed on this website (for example, ACIS 1504 is not listed because, for this Fall semester, ACIS 1504 is open only to students already accepted to the Pamplin College of Business). Only courses appropriate for first-semester University Studies students are listed here.
